Kurumba Accommodation

Accommodation

The accomodation at Kurumba is old colonial style, with two double bedrooms and en suite shower/WC. The bedrooms have over head fans which keep the rooms cool and we have recently hung nets above the beds which protect guests from mosquitos. The house has a large veranda, with a high roof and ceiling fans. The living area is outside and comprises of comfortable modern cane furniture with views straight over the garden onto the beach. The dining area is at the far end of the veranda outside the new fully equipped kitchen.

Location

Kurumba House is located between 190/1 – 190/2 mileposts on the road between Dickwella and Tangalle. The turnoff is just before the Manahara sign and has a small Tsunami memorial as a landmark. The road is concrete, which you need to follow keeping to the right. At the end of the concrete you turn right, Kurumba is the 1st house on the left.

The seaplane is now up and running from Colombo to Dickwella which is a 30 minute flight.  Dickwella airport is five minutes drive from Kurumba.   For details go to www.srilankan.aero.  They can be accommodating on flight departure times from Colombo so do contact them.

Your every need is met by Rupa who does the cooking, housework and laundry. Indika the security guard is on site every night from 6pm - 6am. Rajika arrives after breakfast and takes your food orders for the day, whether its fresh fish from the local fisherman or chicken curry, he takes his tuk tuk into Tangalle and buys the provisions for you.

"Thanks so much for a wonderful, relaxing stay. Everything was just perfect."

"We have had the most wonderful time here. The ladies are magnificent. We wish we were staying for longer."

"Mitzi and I had a really great time at Kurumba House and we fell in love with the place and more especially the people. The setting is fabulous and with two weeks we really got to know Tekla, Rupa, Rajika and Pryantha and shared a lot of laughter and some tears. We can say in all honesty they are the nicest group of people we have experienced in our 26 years of holidaying.

We were told we were ‘very lucky people’ because at Rekawa we saw two turtles laying eggs and at Yala we saw every animal including the reclusive bear as well as the usual suspects! We were also lucky enough to come across a elephant cow with a calf and they spent 30 minutes feeding and playing and walking closer and closer to us.
Mitzi and I would like to thank you most sincerely for opening up such a beautiful experience to us, we had an absolutely fantastic holiday!"

"As our time at the house regrettably comes to a close (we sadly leave tomorrow morning) I wanted to tell you how very much we enjoyed our time at Kurumba. It was EXACTLY what I had had in mind, down to the fishing boats at the gate.  We would love to return again next year. Enshallah!"

"Our biggest mistake: not having more time to stay! Amazing location away from all crazyness. Just us and the Sea! Bedrooms full of charm and a 6 stars quality of service. The beach was only for us .... we thought! We can recommend it."

"We just returned to Colombo from Kurumba House and had a
wonderful time. Teckla, rupa and rajika had been very helpful
and made our stay such a great experience.
We'll definately plan to return to kurumba again soon. The seaplane
makes is easier to get to tangalle."
Thanks again, Jenny & Justin
